Today's lip product is currently one of my all-time favorite products ever! It is the Yves Saint Laurent Glossy Stain in the shade #11, Rouge Gouache. Glossy Stains are a revolutionary (in my opinion!) product for lips that combines all of the best features of lipsticks, glosses, stains, and balms!
Rouge Gouache is a vibrant red-pink that will pull differently depending on your skin tone! On me (medium skin/NC25-30) is comes off as more of a blue red, while on my mom (fair skin, Bobbi Brown Warm Ivory) it comes off as a very bright pink. It comes with a slanted doe-foot applicator that is more of a flattened, cake-server shape! The pointed end of this allows for precise application, which is key with the consistency of this product.
What is so great about this product is that it:
- Applies like a lipgloss
- Looks like a lipstick
- Stains like a lip stain
- Feels like a balm
It couldn't get any better than this! Rouge Gouache survived meals, drinks, and speech for a full 8 hours, which is amazing to me. Once the product sets (around two minutes, during which it is still kind of sticky), it stays all day. The gloss/stain/lipstick hybrid itself has a very slick feel to it, and feels weightless on the lips.
I've heard of people having trouble layering this lip product, and the key is to let the first layer of product dry before you add another layer. That will help it absorb better and your lips will sustain another coat of this awesome lipgloss.

To top it off, you get YSL's beautiful packaging (admit it; you like to show off pretty lipsticks). What I like most (which is a very obsessive compulsive thing with me) is that the tube has a strip of color on two opposite sides of the container, which means that no matter how you close it, the YSL logo and the strip of color on the tube will always line up! :)
At $32 per lipgloss, YSL has some of the priciest lip products on the market.
However, I've yet to see another brand promote something as unique as the glossy stains, which is worth the extra money for me!

Would you splurge on something like this?
